Mike Daisey is a fucking liar. I don’t take that statement lightly, but “fabulist” is just too kind a word. After being embroiled in controversy, Mike Daisey returns to The Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company with The Agony and Ecstasy of Steve Jobs, a show about the cognitive dissonance between Apple fanboyism and the working conditions in Chinese Apple factories. I wrote a rave of the show last year – one of the earliest, in fact – so I was curious to see how Daisey had changed the show since he was exposed. He remains an entertaining performer, but for this show at least, the message has lost its power.
